  • He learned his first lessons of politics from his music classes, which reflected the steep problems of that time. Although his father wanted to continue his family's musical tradition, he did not want to do it.

  • In 1971, under his leadership, the DMK recorded his first major victory in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The following year, MGR separated from the DMK and formed the AIADMK after a roller was refused and after his close friends became rivals.

  • When Prime Minister Indira Gandhi asked for a "emergency situation" in India in 1975, the Karunanidhi government, like other state governments, was released from an office in 1976. In the 1977 elections, the AIADMK, under the leadership of the MGR, broke the DMK and remained in power until death in 1989, after the DMK capitalized and returned after a long period of 13 years.
